WELCOME TO THE ‘BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2012’

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW FORMAT – THE COMPETITION IS OPEN TO:
ORIGINAL and COVER BANDS.

It is essential that all Bands and Band Members are aware of these and adhere to them whilst taking part in the competition.

2)
Whilst taking part in the competition which is held on Licensed Premises (The Sun Inn, North Street, Winchcombe, Glos.), all bands and           band members must adhere to the UK Laws in relation to “Public Performances”, in addition those specific to: “Alcohol and Drugs &             Licensed Premises”. The Organiser's and where appropriate The Landlord/Licensee’s decision is Final and Binding.

3)
The Competition will take place on Friday evenings, with a maximum of 3 bands playing on any one (1) night. Each band will play a 30-45           minute spot as notified depending on the number of bands in the competition, and will be judged by 4 judges who will award points as           follows:

Judging will be as follows: 5 categories (1) Planning & Preparation: (2) Performance & Audience Interaction: (3) Material, Quality &      Originality: (4) Musical Ability & Skills: (5) Overall performance.

Each category carries 10 points per judge, therefore max 50 points per judge and 150 per judging team. If it is deemed necessary to  hold      a play-off, Judging on “Play-off Night” will be different, see clause 11 – “Play-Off Night”.

This year we have decided to return to our original format. Although the competition is based on “Unsigned Bands” and Original Music,  we      appreciate that many bands start off as or playing a majority of Cover Music. With that in mind we hope, depending on the number bands      for each: Original or Cover, to run alternate weeks and not mix, (wherever possible) cover or original on the same night. Although  this      cannot be guaranteed, every effort will be made to keep them separate – except on Finals Night.
4)
Public Voting will take place again this year as follows:
As per last year, the public Voting Line will open when the last band starts its performance and will remain open for 20 minutes after the      last band finishes its performance. The total number of Votes per band will then be added to the total number of points awarded  by the      judges to give each band a Grand Total.

5)
Each band wanting to take part in the competition MUST submit with their application a Demo Tape/Disc, or access to there website /face           book. These will be checked to ensure the band is suitable for the competition. Demos will only be returned if requested.

6)
The Competition Administrator/Judging Co-ordinator will on receipt of the bands confirmation of performance date, will confirm the date,           (all communication will be via email).

7)
The bands playing each week, MUST arrange between themselves – (we will supply contact numbers if required) who is  bring             what equipment. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE SUPPLYING ANY EQUIPMENT WHATSOEVER.

8)
Once a band is given a date and confirms their acceptance, should they fail to appear on any pre-confirmed performance day/evening,           they will automatically be withdrawn from the competition, in addition forfeit any prize money, performance fee or any other monies due.

9)
If any band on the day of performance is unable to appear, delayed, or has a problem, for whatever reason they MUST notify one of the           organisers (whose information they will be supplied with) as soon as possible. Wherever possible and practical, arrangements will be  made           to alter playing schedules. If this cannot be done or they fail to arrive after any alterations are made, it will be deemed as “Fail to  Turn           up”, and clause 8 will apply.

10)
It is each bands own responsibility to advertise and promote their taking part in the competition on their own website/facebook/myspace           etc. giving details of performances, progress and subsequent dates.
